We finally took off from Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, Feb 24th. The Sailing Jasons were great hosts, providing us a slip & use of their car! We couldn’t have done it without them!!
Our motoring to Key Biscayne was uneventful. The wind was not at an angle that made it worth raising the sails. We saw some wildlife, a sailing fleet, some large barges, and many large mega yachts.
We arrived at Key Biscayne to lots of boats already anchored. It was pretty rough but we decided to drop anchor outside the No Name harbor. We were happy to give our new snubber a try since the wind and waves seem to be pretty strong at this anchorage! We rolled all night long but the anchor didn’t move!
We spent Sunday making water, doing some laundry, doing some route planning and making last-minute plans for the trip to the Bahamas. We worked on our hand reel (for fishing) a bit, very frustrating trying to tie the 200lb line!! I made some breakfast cookies and hard-boiled eggs for tomorrow’s trip.
The sunset was beautiful… We are excited for tomorrow!
